I have offered SayShopping vouchers to my staff. Will I know how they are spent?
SayShopping vouchers are an excellent way to motivate and reward people. And at Sodexho we track each of the vouchers we issue. For our corporate clients that require it, we can produce reports about how the vouchers are spent. This is a great feature to measure and to maximise the success of incentive schemes!
What are the tax implications of using SayShopping vouchers?
SayShopping gift vouchers are exchangeable for goods and/or services. As such they are considered as “non-cash vouchers”.
Non-cash vouchers are treated as benefits in kind, so income tax and NICs are due on the taxable value of the vouchers given to any director or employee earning more than the legal threshold per annum.

The taxable value is the lesser of the cost of the voucher or its face value. Therefore, where the employer purchases the voucher at a discount, only the discounted value is subject to tax and NICs.

How long are SayShopping vouchers valid for?
SayShopping vouchers have a three year validity period and the expiry date is printed on the back of each voucher. That is plenty of time to enjoy them!
What denominations are SayShopping Vouchers available in?
The vouchers come in denominations of £2, £5, £10 and £20.
Can I use SayShopping vouchers outside of the UK?
As SayShopping vouchers are issued in £ Sterling, the vouchers can only be used in the United Kingdom. They currently cannot be accepted in the Republic of Ireland.
Can I book a holiday or a hotel room with SayShopping vouchers?
Yes you can, visit the Travel and Holidays section in "Shopping Ideas" to see which retailers and service providers you can use.
What happens if I lose my vouchers?
SayShopping vouchers should be treated like cash. Therefore they cannot be replaced if lost. Please keep them in a safe place!

What security features should my staff look for?
The vouchers are printed on diamond watermarked paper and feel similar to currency. There is a hologram over the counterfoil which the words ‘valid’ and ‘ok’ are reflected. The voucher should be complete when presented, with the counterfoil attached. Please refer to our Security Guidelines for full details.
Can I write on the voucher?
No, please do not write on, deface or damage the voucher in anyway.
Should I keep the counterfoil? Yes, please retain the counterfoil in case of discrepancies.
What happens if my vouchers get lost between my shop and Sodexho? By retaining the counterfoil, we will be able to trace the voucher.
